Anda has inaugurated, in partnership with Sonangol Distribuição e Comercialização, the first Anda Energy Hub, installed at the Mirantes Service Station, in Talatona. The new station was designed to make battery swapping for the Anda Energy electric fleet faster, more practical, and more accessible for the platform's drivers.

According to Anda, the infrastructure represents more than just a new power and battery-swapping point, and is described by the company as the beginning of a new way of moving, taking into account the construction of an infrastructure network dedicated to electric mobility, with the goal of making operations more efficient and accessible.

“Electric mobility requires more than electric vehicles. It also requires infrastructure. The Anda Energy Hub is the first step in building that network in Angola and reinforces our commitment to a more efficient and future-ready mobility”, states Anda in a note sent to the TARGETING newsroom.

The Hub is already fully operational, enabling Anda Energy drivers to swap their motorbike battery and continue their journey without prolonged interruptions. According to the company, the new infrastructure translates into three direct benefits for drivers: greater speed, convenience, and mobility.

Strengthening Luanda's electric mobility network

The Mirantes Station was not a random choice for this first Hub: it was the first service station reopened under Sonangol's Optimal Supply Network Requalification and Modernization Program, already equipped with an area dedicated to charging electric vehicles. The partnership with Anda now strengthens this offering by adding a dedicated point specifically for charging and swapping electric motorbike batteries; the new Hub thus joins an infrastructure already geared toward electric mobility.

For Sonangol DC, the initiative is part of its decarbonization and energy diversification strategy, which has involved upgrading the nationwide network of service stations.

The first Anda Energy Hub thus joins an expanding network, strengthening both companies' commitment to cleaner and more efficient transport solutions for the thousands of motorbike drivers who underpin much of Luanda's urban mobility today.

Founded in Luanda in 2022 by Sérgio Tati and Joerg Nuehrmann, it is a mobility and fintech company that has sought to formalize the motorcycle-taxi sector in Angola—a market estimated at 1.2 million drivers nationwide, with around 600,000 in the capital alone. Through an asset-financing ("drive-to-own") model, the company provides motorbikes, tuk-tuks, and cars to drivers who, for the most part, lack access to bank accounts, credit histories, or insurance, gradually integrating them into the formal economy.

The company has also been expanding its electric fleet and the corresponding battery swapping and charging network, an effort that recently received an investment from Proparco, the development finance arm of the French Agence Française de Développement group, specifically intended to accelerate this type of infrastructure in Luanda.
